The Transition to Practice (TTP) Specialty Fellowship Program is designed for RN’s with at least one year experience in a specialty outside of adult acute care and/or intermediate care (i.e. outpatient).

 

The following units are participating in this cohort of the TTP Specialty Fellowship for Adult Acute and Intermediate Care:

  2. 5A/5C Medicine and Family Medicine 
  3. 14C Medicine  
  4. 5B/6B Emergency Department Observation 
  5. 7C/11K Cardiovascular Intermediate Care Unit 
  6. 9K Orthopedics 
  7. 10A Emergency General Surgery 
  8. 10D HRC Epilepsy Monitoring and Clinical Research Unit
  9. 10K Neurosciences Intermediate Care Unit 
  10. 13A Trauma 
  11. 13K Medical/Surgical Oncology 
  12. 14A Gastrointestinal and General Surgery 
  13. 14K Bone Marrow Transplant 
  14. Outpatient Care Unit (OCU) on the South Waterfront

 

This role is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with the Oregon Nurses Association (ONA).

 

This TTP AIE Specialty Fellowship Track is hiring for multiple positions. The positions will be distributed based on the current amount of knowledge and skills of the other nurses in the unit/departments.

  • FTE: 0.9, Full Time 
  • Shift Length: 12 Hours 
  • Schedule & Hours For all Units
    • Shift: Night or Day shift
    • Start and Stop Times: 1900-0730; 0700-1900
  • Weekend Obligation: Unit based approved guidelines
  • Floating Obligation: Within 6 months per unit recommendation
  • Salary: Hourly rate based on ONA contract
  • Leave: Successful completion of the TTP program necessitates attendance during all learning activities.
    • External Candidates: Vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests (not related to an organizational policy) up to 10-weeks from the start date are not permitted. All other vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests are subject to compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between ONA and OHSU.
    • Internal Nurse Candidates: All vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests are subject to compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between ONA and OHSU. Pre-scheduled vacations or leave plans must be disclosed prior to consideration for hire to determine the start date

Function/Duties of Position

Hiring Bonus up to $12,000 DOE and Relocation Package Available. Must begin work by July 1, 2024 to qualify.  

 

$49.16-$78.18 per hour, based on RN Degree and level of experience

Required Qualifications

Minimum requirements for all Nurses:

  • Review the RN Role Description on the TTP Program webpage.
  • Associate or Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA).  
    • BSN preferred 
    • Associate Degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
  • Current unencumbered Oregon RN license by 1 week before the start date.
  • Current BLS certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA by the start date.
  • BLS must not expire during orientation or probation period, and must have the same expiration date (upload documentation with online application).
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.

Department Specific Requirements:

  • Review the Department Specific Requirements on the TTP Program webpage.
  • At least 1-year experience in an adult population care area outside of inpatient acute, intermediate or emergency department observation and/or at least 1-year experience in pediatric population care area (inpatient or outpatient).
  • BLS must not expire during the TTP Program.
  • For ED Observation and 7C-11K ONLY:
    • Current ACLS certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA by the start date.
    • Existing OHSU workforce members are not required to have ACLS before the start date per policy HC-HR-111-POL-RR.
    • ACLS must not expire during the TTP Program.

Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Individualized Orientation Schedule of 6-12 weeks:

  • The intended start date is June 17, 2024 (external & organizational internal transfer)/June 24, 2024. We are also able to offer earlier hire dates for RN’s with all requirements met (including Oregon RN licensure). Available start dates will be discussed in the hiring process.
  • Group-based, self-directed, and preceptorship shifts are integrated weekly for up to 40 hours per week.

    • Group-based sessions: Monday-Friday 0800-1700 (8-hour shifts) or 1500-1900 (4-hour shifts).
    • Self-directed shifts: Monday-Sunday all-hours up to 8-hours a week.
    • Preceptorship shifts: Assigned based on preceptor team schedules during Monday-Sunday 0700-1930, 1900-0730, 0700-1530, 1500-2330, 2300-0730, or 1900-0330. Transition to hired shift is based on unit readiness and the completion of group-based sessions.

Transition to hired shift may be delayed for a temporary reassignment due to individual development needs and skill mix of the employees on the unit or the hires shift at any given time.
