Department Overview

The mission of the Information Technology Group (ITG) is to develop, implement and maintain technology-based services and solutions enabling OHSU and its partners to effectively manage information to accomplish its missions. 

Function/Duties of Position

This position works on the Hillsboro Operations & Administrative Applications team (HOAA) in ITG supporting the Hillsboro Medical Center (formerly known as Tuality) partnership with OHSU. OHSU is the IT service provider for Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC). HOAA is a team of 5 people responsible for the administrative applications used by the hospital, data feeds from the HRIS system to benefits, timekeeping and retirement systems. This team also manages the server the HRIS, Intranet and other critical applications are on, as well as other minor application support.

 

The Systems/Applications Analyst, Sr. is a critical position that works with Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC) customers to:

  • Coordinate with OHSU and HMC resources to evaluate new project requests, determine ITG resources needed and then work with Director to determine priority for the team.
  • Act as Project Manager and/or Sr. Business Analyst for projects of all sizes.
  • Act as a backup to another Systems/Applications Analyst, Sr. on the team focused on operational work.
  • Review/respond to ITG incidents related to applications this team owns, act as the Incident Owner where assigned, following standard process to manage the incident.
  • Work with ITG Communications and HMC communications teams as needed to communicate relevant project and/or incident information.
  • Evaluate requests for information, changes and projects, documenting requirements, design and develop SBAR’s for OHSU and HMC leadership
  • Assist in the selection and implementation of computer applications, provide support for the operation and maintenance of existing computer applications
  • Work closely with OHSU Healthcare applications teams to follow OHSU standards, protocol and procedures for managing clinical projects.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and manage that improvement using standard methodology.
  • Provide support/guidance for the technical team members where they are resources on projects or work efforts.

 

HMC users need to navigate a complex suite of applications across 2 networks to do their jobs; it is critical for this position to understand the end user experience/workflow and take this into consideration as new projects are initiated to analyze the impact.

  • Work with HMC customers to identify process improvement opportunities in HMC workflows and suggest a path forward to implementing change.
  • Participate in self-paced learning, apply knowledge to this role, incorporate new tools into daily operations.
  • Craft professionally written, complete, business-appropriate writing quickly in response to critical issues/incidents and project documentation, operational support documents.
  • Take ownership of all work and see it through to completion.
  • Understand the “big picture” and determine path forward to achieve the stated goals (for the team and the organization).
  • Communicate effectively using multiple modes to OHSU, HMC leadership, peers, project team and customers.
  • Work efficiently and effectively remotely using the tools available to achieve high quality results in line with leadership and customer expectations.

Required Qualifications

Education: 

Master’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and four years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and six years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

 

Associate’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and seven years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

 

Eight years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

 

Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate’s degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.

 

Experience: 

  • Relevant experience conducting efficient and effective meetings with stakeholders, customers of varying backgrounds to accomplish stated outcomes.
  • Relevant experience utilizing standard project management methodology.
  • Relevant Business Analyst experience with ERP specific to  HR/Payroll/Finance functions.
  • Experience working in a healthcare organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed environment with minimal supervision/direction following ITG policies/procedures/management expectations.

Additional Details

Customers are located at Hillsboro Medical Center in downtown Hillsboro. ITG is working remotely at this time, maintaining a small on-site presence. While most work will be conducted remotely, some work on-site in Hillsboro may be required based on project needs. Occasional trips to downtown Portland and OHSU main campus may be required.

On-site project work at Hillsboro Medical Center sometimes requires working in clinical areas; appropriate escort and PPE is provided if needed.

Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Flexibility depends on customer needs/meeting times and discussion with manager.
