Department Overview

The OHSU-PSU School of Public Health (SPH) is aligned with the American Public Health Association in declaring racism a public health crisis, and our School is committed to becoming an antiracist SPH. We are working to center social justice in our internal and external work as a school and are committed to addressing structural and institutional racism, and to holding ourselves accountable to this work.

Function/Duties of Position

  • This position supports a collaborative research initiative which aims to associate state assisted living regulations with care outcomes. Our research group has multiple NIH funded grant initiatives which rely on a longitudinal dataset documenting the presence or absence of specific regulatory provisions for each assisted living license across all 50 states and DC. A student hired in this position will assist with updating this dataset, which currently only covers 2007-2018.
  • Attend initial team trainings and team meetings at least weekly to ensure inter-rater reliability.
  • Assist with downloading policy documents from Westlaw.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks to support project management.
  • Use a software tool (likely Atlas.Ti or Monqcle) to code the presence or absence of specific regulatory provisions.
  • Assist with data cleaning and/or manuscript writing, dependent on applicant skills and interest.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in a Graduate Program
    minimum 4.5 credit hours).
  • Experience using a computer to accomplish work-based goals.
  • Experience working effectively with a team.
  • Experience working independently on assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work with others and communicate professionally.
  • Proficient in navigating web-based resources.
  • Ability to apply analytic reasoning to text.
  • Basic Microsoft Excel Skills.
