OHSU Casey Eye Institute serves as the Department of Ophthalmology for Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), and holds educating residents and fellows as one of its most important missions. Our bold goal is eliminating preventable blindness in Oregon and beyond, and our patients are some of the first in the nation to access new therapies and treatments. For many years, we have been ranked among the top ten NEI funded Eye Research Institutes in the U.S. Our research faculty are making significant contributions in many areas, including informatics, advanced non-invasive ophthalmic imaging, gene therapy, tele-health, inflammatory eye disease, retinal disease, glaucoma, oculoplastics, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology and public health in ophthalmology.
This position is for a clinical fellow in Ophthalmic Genetics and will provide clinical care to Retina and Ophthalmic Genetics patients of the University Hospital and Clinics and affiliated hospitals and clinics; engaging in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups as approved by Department Chair.
Requires a current, valid MD license, DEA certification, and completion of an accredited residency program in Ophthalmology.
Strong clinical and patient assessment skills. Detail oriented, pro-active and meticulous in all aspects of work. Requires excellent organizational skills and strong communication and patient relations skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with employees at all levels of the organization is essential. Demonstrated innovation, initiative, and creative problem-solving skills are imperative. Ability to work well independently and multi-task is critical. Ability to plan and organize technical work and to adapt to a changing work environment is critical. Must be able to assess and develop work tasks and systems in order to optimize clinic performance.
