The Center for Evidence-based Policy (Center) is a national leader in evidence-based decision-making and policy design. The Center works with state policymakers in more than 25 states to use high-quality evidence to guide decisions, maximize resources, and improve health outcomes. The Center is objective and non-partisan, working in states across the country to support evidence-based decision-making. The Center does not lobby, and does not accept funding from industry, advocates, or trade associations. Though embedded within OHSU, the Center is entirely self-supporting.
Center staff members work closely with state and federal policymakers to research existing policies, programs, and develop policy options. The Center’s Project Management Team consists of project leads and project coordinators who are responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the Center’s many projects using widely accepted project management tools and techniques.
The Center hosts multiple meetings and conferences throughout the year, including large national conferences for state policymakers, project meetings locally and in other states, as well as internal staff trainings and retreats. The Project Coordinator in this role will oversee the planning and execution of these events, working closely with program staff on content while using their own strong organizational and problem solving skills to manage all logistics for in-person, hybrid, and virtual events. They will be the logisitics point person at events and must be comfortable adapting to unexpected situations and resolving unforseen challenges.
The Project Coordinator must be able to effectively communicate with a diverse array of employees and external stakeholders at all levels. They must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including relationship-building, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
The Project Coordinator will participate in special projects at the Center, providing high-quality support and coordination as a member of multi-faceted teams across the organization. They will work collaboratively with other team members to support the design, delivery, execution, monitoring, and follow-up of assigned projects.
Four years of experience as an executive assistant, administrative analyst, event coordinator, or administrative officer which included administrative duties, provision of technical assistance, or operations review. Two of the required years must have included administration or oversight of an on-going project or program.
Extensive experience in event/meeting planning and management including working with diverse constituencies (national and international speakers, high level political figures, revenue clients, collaborating organizations, consultants, and subcontracting agencies)
Experience troubleshooting complex technical and logistical issues in large projects and client meetings
Experience negotiating with vendors
Experience working with government agencies
Knowledge and experience in project management
Experience developing project plans and monitoring and reporting on project progress
Proficiency in use of project management software
Extensive & efficient computer applications/software skills, including:
MS Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, Visio, Adobe Acrobat, WebEx, and online survey tools
Proficiency in electronic records cataloging and filing systems.
Dependability and ability to function as part of a team as well as independently.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
