We seek a highly motivated and organized Research Associate to join our collaborative team of basic, translational, and clinical scientists. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and characterizing preclinical models of rare pediatric and young adult cancers. This role involves co-leading the generation of various primary tumor models, encompassing both ex vivo and in vivo approaches. The Research Associate will develop ex vivo 3D cultures, such as organoids and explants, alongside in vivo patient-derived xenografts (PDXs) in immunocompromised mice. Responsibility will include handling, survival surgery, drug administration, and tumor monitoring.
To effectively interrogate these patient-derived tumor models, the Research Associate will conduct a range of bioassays, including RNA/DNA analysis, NGS, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, western blotting, fluorescent imaging/microscopy, and flow cytometry. This work may include testing and validating novel drug candidates and combinations, as well as performing dependency screens using siRNA or CRISPR/Cas9.
The successful candidate will contribute to laboratory organization and management, ensuring regulatory compliance, and training junior staff as needed. They will also have the opportunity to actively participate in manuscript writing, presentation of findings, and knowledge sharing within the lab. The ideal candidate will possess meticulous attention to detail, the ability to learn new data analysis methods, and proficiency in analytical and graphics software routinely used to make figures (e.g., Prism, Adobe Suite, Excel). Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for successful interactions with diverse team members and external collaborators.
