Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Senior Community Research Associate will work within a team to accomplish the study aims of projects focused primarily on firearm injury prevention. The Senior Community Research Associate will oversee the strategy and vision of the Gun Violence Review Commission in Multnomah County. The Senior Community Research Associate will ensure that all project activities are completed in a timely manner; build and maintain relationships with community partners; manage a team of 2- 3 OHSU staff that work on the project; plan for and facilitate strategic meetings; draft interim and final reports; present project findings and activities at academic conferences and other forums; and evaluate and continually improve project procedures and activities. Other duties will include conducting research to identify best practices and evidence-based gun violence prevention strategies. The Senior Community Research Associate will oversee the Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals and other regulatory compliance correspondence. The Senior Community Research Associate may also be asked to work across multiple research projects, as needed.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Ensuring that all project activities are completed in a timely manner.
  • Building and maintaining working relationships with community partners.
  • Managing a team of 2-3 OHSU staff that work on the project.
  • Planning for and facilitating strategic meetings.
  • Drafting interim and final reports.
  • Presenting project findings and activities at academic conferences and other forums.

  • Evaluating and continually improving project procedures and activities.
  • Conducting research to identify and evidence-based gun violence prevention strategies.

  • Oversee Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals and other regulatory compliance as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's in relevant field AND 5 years of relevant experience OR
  • Bachelor's in relevant field AND 9 years of relevant experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
