The Registered Nurse position involves remote and clinic duties (hybrid position) responsible for active care management of patients. This includes but is not limited to, supporting clinics, educating and counseling patients, participating in multidisciplinary care planning, triage patient calls to providers and provide follow‑up and on‑going communication with patients, family members, and care‑givers. As part of overall duties for patient care management, this position coordinates and helps lead team care initiatives including monthly allied health team meeting between Movement Disorders faculty and the rehab team.
Maintains compliance with applicable laws such as client confidentiality, Americans with Disabilities Act, Workers’ Compensation, abuse reporting, principles of consent, and advanced medical directives.
Advocates for the client/family at the service-delivery level and at the policy-making level fostering the client/family’s decision-making, independence, and growth and development. Integrates factors related to quality, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness in planning, delivering, monitoring and evaluating client care promoting the most effective and efficient use of human and financial resources.
This position will also be involved in the development and coordination of educational events and presentations geared toward patients and families, allied health, and professional education. Provide in-service training to nurses and other healthcare providers on the clinic operations and basics of Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease and other movement disorders in an outpatient clinic setting as requested. Organize and provide team training opportunities within Therapists Aligned in Managing Parkinson’s Disease (TEAM-PD) or PD Project ECHO to underserved areas.
Represent the OHSU Parkinson Center as Center of Excellence Coordinator with the national Parkinson Foundation, CurePSP, and/or Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA). Participates in clinic, department, OHSU campus teams and committees as appropriate and as approved by nurse manager and Movement Disorders program director.
