Department Overview

OHSU Finance is a newly formed, centralized, department that provides financial services to across OHSU and the School of Medicine.

Function/Duties of Position

The Finance and Accounting Analyst I, reporting to a Senior Finance Administrator, plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the OHSU Finance department. This individual is responsible for managing accounting transactions, resolving discrepancies, and analyzing financial data to support decision-making. The role includes improving processes, ensuring compliance with policies, and collaborating with various teams to resolve issues. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations within the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • AND
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience
  • 36 hours of accounting courses as described above, or an accounting degree, or demonstrate proficiency of accounting principles (e.g. GAAP).
  • Prior Academic Health Center or relevant financial specific experience performing analysis related to operational improvements and business cases.
  • Proficient with use of PC including database and spreadsheet applications.
  • Proficient with spreadsheet skills, including simple functions, formulas, and formatting.  Experience with relational databases.  Understanding of financial reporting concepts such as cost accounting and net present value analysis.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult with internal and external customers regarding matters/issues which may be sensitive in nature.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle Financial Applications, PL/SQL, Microsoft Suite.
  • IBM Planning Analytics / Cognos Analytics experience.
  • Experience with Oracle SLA.
