Department Overview

The Community Connect Program Analyst will work in coordination with the Senior Community Connect Analyst to support the Community Connect organizations.  This analyst will have in-depth knowledge of Epic and help serve as a liaison between the end users, vendors and other information systems support teams.  This position will coordinate design of Epic Billing applications including Hospital Billing, Charge Router, Clinical Charge Capture, and Revenue Cycle.  The Community Connect Program Analyst will act as a contact for Community Connect Clients between ITG and operational business partners, including Professional Billing Services and Patient Business Services (PBS).

Function/Duties of Position

  • System Analysis and Design:  Overall system analysis, design, validation, implementation, troubleshooting and ongoing design of the Epic Hospital Resolute applications including:
    • Consults with customers to understand existing workflows, processes, data collection, report details and other technical issues associated with application software as they relate to system design and build decisions that support the customer’s functions and goals.
    • Analyze design alternatives and makes appropriate design recommendations in coordination with the Senior Community Connect Analyst.  Designs, validates and confirms functionality with the application environment that meets customer specifications. Understands and translates the business functionality into application configurations and workflow validations.
    • The Community Connect Program Analyst will demonstrate knowledge of the key applications supporting patient access (Resolute HB, Charge Router) and how they integrate with other Epic Applications.  Tests application build to ensure the system meets end-user requirements.
    • Works with the Senior Community Connect Analyst to identify and resolve complex issues.  Identify pain points, establish action plan and implement testing process as necessary. This includes identifying appropriate parties and potential solution with minimal guidance.  Responsible for troubleshooting data integrity and validity.
    • Works with both internal and external resources to collaboratively plan, organize and coordinate the optimization, design and overall coordination of Resolute.
    • Works collaboratively with PROFESSIONAL BILLING SERVICES and PBS.  Services as a liaison between these customers and ITG Epic project team members to ensure communication is provided and project remains on time and in scope.
  • Project Management:

    • Work with Senior Community Connect Analyst to assess new project requests, new upgrade features, enhancements, etc. in accordance with ITG policies and priorities.
    • Participate in workflow meetings and facilitate as requested.
    • Develop project plan and timelines, identify resource allocation across Epic application teams.
    • Communicate project impact and risks to appropriate operational partners and Epic project team.
    • Escalate issues as appropriate to the Senior Community Connect Analyst Revenue and/or the Revenue Cycle Team Manager or Revenue Integrity Director.
    • Participate in Revenue Cycle projects as directed by Revenue Cycle Team Manager and/or Revenue Integrity Director.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field & 2 yrs work related experience in the IT field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field & 4 years work related experience in the IT field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR
  • Associate’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field & 5 years work related experience in the IT field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR
  • 6 years work related experience in the IT, billing or revenue cycle field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and applicable experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate’s degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated revenue cycle, financial analysis and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated skills of working in partnership with multiple planning groups including physicians.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Epic Certification
  • Experience implementing an Integrated Enterprise Hospital System (Admitting, Scheduling, Billing, CPOE, Documentation, etc) preferably Epic. Experience implementing technology that promoted fundamental changes in hospital settings.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of project coordination and management.
  • Working knowledge of content areas (i.e. Admitting, Hospital Billing, Registration, Scheduling, Nursing, etc.)
  • Project management experience implementing billing practices.
  • Knowledge of system configuration, data tools and concepts, application implementation or related applicable skill set preferred.
  • Ability to work in a highly autonomous role by demonstrating self-motivation and creativity in design approach.
  • Ability to function effectively in a very dynamic team environment.
  • Ability to proactively pursue problem resolution to satisfy customer needs.
  • Ability to proactively discover/test/analyze new Epic application enhancements/features independently.
  • Ability to provide highly critical quality analysis and testing of new software applications or feature (including beta testing.)
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks efficiently while successfully meeting assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to work with users to accurately assess and diagnose system problems as defined by the user.
  • Working knowledge of hospital operations and the patient care process.
  • Working knowledge of Epic application(s).
  • At least 5 years’ experience in ambulatory care/physician practice/hospital setting with responsibility and accountability on revenue cycle management.
  • Knowledge of operational healthcare hospital workflows.
  • Epic Certification in Revenue Cycle application (Resolute PB or HB).
