The Division of Abdominal Organ Transplantation provides state-of-the-art care for patients with end stage liver disease, end stage renal disease, hepatobiliary and pancreaticobiliary disease, as well as patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. The liver transplant program at OHSU was constructed in 1988. The team continues to expand the volume of liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants while improving survival rates and outcomes. The Division of Abdominal Organ Transplantation is active in research and education, sponsoring both a multi-organ transplant fellowship program and a hepato-pancreatico-biliary fellowship program.
The APP in Abdominal Organ Transplantation is a full-time position whose duties include coordinating and supporting the needs of inpatient and outpatient care and clinical support operations for the Division of Abdominal Organ Transplantation. The APP works in close partnership with physicians, advanced-practice providers, RNs, CMAs, residents and hospital personnel to provide excellent clinical care and customer service in the inpatient and outpatient settings. The APP works to assure a smooth transition of patient care and education between the inpatient and outpatient arenas in order to decrease length of stay, improve patient outcomes and increase patient satisfaction. Provides modeling for staff and residents regarding excellent internal and external customer service and teamwork. The APP works in conjunction with the surgeons, RN Care Coordinators, surgical residents, Division Manager, division staff and OHSU leadership to provide services to further the OHSU’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
Provides continuity of care for Kidney/Pancreas Transplant patients while delivering high quality customer service to both external and internal customers (patients, referring providers, internal providers, and other OHSU faculty and staff) that meets or exceeds the service standards for the health care industry. This duty includes prompt and professional communication efforts, face-to-face customer contact skills, crisis management, use of available information technology, standard complaint processing, flexibility in coverage of internal service needs, and continuous application of process improvement methods and skills.
