Department Overview

A .5 FTE Senior Clinical Research Assistant position is available in the Garinis lab in the Oregon Hearing Research Center. The research assistant will be responsible for recruitment, scheduling and consenting of parents/patients, data management skills and experience in IRB protocols and management of study administrative tasks. The individual will be familiar with navigating EPIC and data auditing procedures, as well as preparation of poster abstracts and manuscripts for study dissemination.  This role requires independence and minimal supervision for primary responsibilities. This individual must be comfortable working in a collaborative team environment.  

Function/Duties of Position

  • Recruitment and consenting of patients/parents for study enrollment.
  • IRB administrative tasks, including modifications and continuing renewals.
  • Navigate EPIC to obtain clinical information from research patient records. Write research abstracts as needed for each study visit.
  • Data entry and management.
  • Preparation of conference presentations and participation in journal clubs and local grand rounds.
  • Attend lab meetings and relevant trainings.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field AND 1 year of relevant experience OR
  • Associate's AND 3 years of relevant experience OR
  • 4 years of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some research in basic clinical laboratory tasks (recruiting and consenting of patients and parents of patients; data management and IRB protocols)
  • Experience recruiting and consenting patients with chronic illness, or other vulnerable populations.

  • Research experience with all aspects of lab function, including data collection, management and analyses.

  • Management of IRB protocols

  • Organizational skills

  • Comfortable working in a team environment.
