Under the direction of the Mail Order Pharmacy Supervisor, the Pharmacy Mail Order Cashier receives, stores, retrieves, mails, and/or coordinates prescription drug and medical supply orders that are part of a mail order pharmacy operation at OHSU Pharmacy. This position is also responsible for appropriate documentation related to receipt of order, storage, shipping or additional handling of prescriptions filled at the OHSU Mail Order Pharmacy.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Packages prescription orders when complete and mails product to customers’ preferred addresses.
  • Appropriately bills customers for mailed products and devices.
  • Coordinates pick-ups and deliveries of customer orders, and vendor supplied items, according to schedule and location.
  • Manages, monitors, and orders supply stock for the mail order pharmacy. Informs supervisor when stock needs to be reordered; assists in rotating supply and prescription drug stock, checks for outdates.
  • Transfers supplies between the pharmacy and storage facilities.
  • Manages mail station cleanliness and keeps area neat and orderly.
  • Assists other pharmacy personnel with maintenance and cleaning of pharmacy production area.
  • Misc. record keeping and clerical duties, including, but not limited to matching invoices, updating supply costs, purchasing off an approved supply list, filing documents and prescriptions according to state and federal regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Work experience or training, which includes the exchange of money for purchases and making change. Proven prior successful customer service experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills,
  • Systematic problem solving skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Compliance with Code of Conduct, Respect in the workplace and Applicable policies, procedures and agreements related to position, department or OHSU as a whole

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some College
  • Experience in a community pharmacy.

Additional Details

Pay Range: $18.30 - $24.33 per hour

  • The position must deal with situations on a daily basis with a high degree of intensity. In addition, within the health care setting there can be significant lack of control over the work pace, with frequent interruptions (work is often dictated by external factors) that may lead to mental fatigue or stress.
