Department Overview

The Medical Physicist Assistant (MPA) performs tasks in support of the Medical Physicists in the Imaging Physics Section within the Department of Diagnostic Radiology. The general responsibility of the MPA includes assisting with performance evaluations of imaging equipment (preparation of testing templates, testing of radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment, and follow up testing after service). The MPA will develop standards documents for the section relating to revised state regulations and accreditation requirements. The MPA will aid in CT Protocol Committee work for the optimization of dose and image quality in CT.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Performs preparation of testing templates and reports, testing evaluations of radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment, and follow-up testing after service. 
  • Develops standards documents for the imaging physics section related to accreditation standards and state regulations. 
  • Participates in CT Protocol Meetings, analysis of dose logs, and prepares meeting materials.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

  • Enrolled in MS Medical Physics Graduate Program

  • No experience required

  • Skill in collecting, organizing and analyzing data.

  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

  • Possess an understanding of clinical radiology and clinical physics

  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed

  • Ability to manage time and prioritize work flow.

  • Technical problem solving.

  • Excellent computer skills relating to operational software systems/networking
