The Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research (CEDAR) center is a collaborative institution within the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute. The Knight Cancer Institute, known as one of the pioneers in personalized cancer medicine, is an international leader in research and cancer treatment. Function/Duties of Position

The Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research (CEDAR) center is seeking a resourceful, dynamic program technician to develop and implement programs to support CEDAR’s researchers in working together and leveraging wide interdisciplinary expertise to do cutting-edge, impactful science. This person would work closely with the Program Director for Organizational Development & Team Science to develop, implement, monitor and improve programs that support a culture of collaboration in CEDAR.  This person would be uniquely positioned to serve as a bridge between programs and can amplify the impact of the work by using a systems thinking approach to leverages strengths and collectively contribute to a culture of collaboration and effectiveness. In this role your primary responsibilities will include:

  •  Managing and developing programs, extensive meeting series, and initiatives intended to enrich CEDAR’s culture and in support of its guiding principles.
  • Driving the development and management of programs, in consultation with researchers throughout CEDAR, to facilitate transdisciplinary scientific collaborations within and among research groups.
  • Driving the programs, training, and outcomes tracking for career and professional development programming.
  • Assisting the Program Director for Organizational Development and Team Science with development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Organizational Development and Team Science strategic plan.
  • With CEDAR Assistant Directors, developing frameworks, and managing processes to evaluate programs, including key performance indicators, standards, monitoring systems, and innovation and improvement plans.
  • Serving as the main coordinator and emcee of regular CEDAR all-staff meetings and related materials, with support from executive leadership, operations leadership, and others.

Required Qualifications

Education & experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a field directly related to the position will substitute for two years of the required experience
  • Three years of experience administering or coordinating parts or subsets of a project or program
  • Experience engaging various stakeholders to develop creative solutions

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and effectively prioritize competing needs in a dynamic environment
  • Must have excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems
  • Must be technology savvy. Strong skills including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and project management platforms such as Smartsheet
  • Excellent customer service and the ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships

Preferred Qualifications

Education & experience:

  • Experience working in an academic or industry research environment

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of the scientific process
  • Knowledge of best practices for teaming and/or team science
  • Understanding of how to apply systems thinking in a program management role
