Department Overview

Under direct supervision, primarily performs basic research or lab activities similar to a Research Assistant 1 or Lab Aide*.

Function/Duties of Position

Student Worker position is open in Behavioral Neuroscience laboratory with a focus on the molecular mechanisms underlying sex differences in substance use disorder. The student will work closely with the Principal Investigator to:

  • Prepare reagents
  • Process tissues
  • Conduct behavioral experiments
  • Analyze data

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in Undergraduate Program (minimum 6 credit hours)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate coursework in biology, molecular biology, neuroscience, psychology or animal behavior

  • 3 months of undergraduate research or laboratory coursework

  • Organizational skills

  • Experience in excel, R, SPSS or prism for data entry and analysis

Additional Details

  • Occasional weekend work may be required.
  • Working with research animals required
  • Research assistant will help general lab maintenance including ordering and setting up equipment, as well as running experiments and analyzing data for the lab.
