The Health Unit Coordinator is part of the health care team and utilizes her/his knowledge and expertise to support nursing area/unit operations throughout OHSU. The Health Unit Coordinator's primary responsibility is to enhance the patient experience, both by facilitating communication with healthcare providers and by addressing patient needs as he/she is able. The Health Unit Coordinator also maintains an accurate and current profile of patients and health care team members in multiple locations: census boards, computers, call lists and charts. The Health Unit Coordinator acts as a communications specialist, providing secretarial and reception skills, computer entry services, and organizational and problem-solving expertise.
The Float Pool HUC works in all nursing units within the Patient Care Services Division. This includes adult and pediatric units, acute care, critical care, psychiatry and emergency.

Pay Range: $21.81 - $29.09 per hour
Frequent need to sit and answer phone for extended periods of time. Frequent need to keyboard for extended periods of time. Occasional need to lift under 50#. Frequent need to walk around nursing units and facility to assist patients and their families, obtain supplies and/or locate staff. Frequent twisting from the waist to reach supplies and/or patient charts.
