The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
To meet its statewide mission to support the health and well-being of all Oregonians, Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) offers degrees in a number of health profession disciplines in addition to those in its DMD, MD, and undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. This includes a BS in Radiation Therapy, a Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS), an MS and PhD in Medical Physics, an MS in Food Systems and Security, an MS in Human Nutrition, and a Dietetic Internship. In collaboration with Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech), OHSU also offers an AAS in paramedic, a BS in Emergency Medical Services, a BS in Medical Laboratory Science, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy. OHSU also continually explores expanding its program offerings to meet the health care workforce needs of Oregon and the evolving nature of health care delivery across the State.
Working in collaboration with the Deans, Program Directors and leaders at Oregon Tech and other institutions, the Vice Provost, Health Professions, is responsible for the overall academic, financial, and operational oversight of OHSU’s health profession programs. The Vice Provost is also responsible for analyzing the health care workforce needs of Oregon and overseeing the strategic development of new degree programs to meet identified gaps.

The Vice Provost, Health Professions, will be responsible for overall leadership, direction, organization and fiscal oversight of the health profession programs at OHSU. This includes, but is not limited to:
The successful candidate will be both an experienced academic leader with a strategic vision for addressing the healthcare needs of Oregon, and someone who possesses the skills to translate that vision into action. Moreover, through their experience, the candidate will have a clear and articulate understanding of the contemporary needs and approaches to addressing the healthcare needs of the State. In addition to an earned doctorate or equivalent, the successful candidate must possess a high level of financial and managerial acumen, and the proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other senior leaders, faculty, staff, students, and alumni. The successful candidate will also have experience working with state legislative bodies, academic partner institutions, and other external constituents. The successful candidate will possess a clear understanding of the importance of diversity for an academic health center, and the ability and skill to help lead the institution towards achieving its strategic goals for diversity.
Preference will be given to candidates who can hold the rank of Professor at OHSU.
