The Division of Gastrointestinal and General Surgery is a comprehensive team of surgeons focused on the areas of colorectal surgery, esophageal surgery, hernia surgery, treatment of pancreatic cancer and surgical nutrition. Our general surgeons support numerous clinical research trials and actively partner with scientists in the community to develop innovative surgical devices. The general surgery division also encompasses one of the largest residency programs in the country, as well as fellowships in minimally invasive surgery and colorectal surgery.
This position is within the GI / General Surgery Division and will have a focused commitment to Colorectal Surgery. The position requires a strong commitment to patient care, research and teaching. Primary responsibility will be clinical care of Colorectal Surgery. In addition, applicant will educate students, residents, fellows and clinic staff. Participate in Department of Surgery teaching conferences, Morbidity and Mortality conference and weekly surgery grand rounds. The applicant will be often enlisted to deliver lectures to medical students and other medical professionals on campus and in the Portland area. Pursue scholarly activities to include research, which is most favorably represented as extramural funding, and timely publication of original manuscripts in peer reviewed medical journals.
Applicants must be willing to participate in outreach activities with community hospitals including limited clinical care and quality initiatives.
