The Department of Ophthalmology is recruiting for a Vice Chair of Administration (Department Administrator). Under the supervision of the Chair and Director of Casey Eye Institute, this position supports the missions, goals and objectives of the OHSU School of Medicine and Health System which includes clinical care, research, education, outreach and philanthropy. Core duties include strategic planning, project management, business development, budget and financial management, facilities and resource management, faculty recruitment and retention, and marketing. Serves as advisor to the Director, Chair, and Associate Director of Research of Casey Eye Institute. Recommends, develops, implements and oversees operational and administrative processes.
The Vice Chair of Administration will have direct responsibility for the operations and management of clinical, surgical, education, research, outreach philanthropic activities at the Casey Eye Institute. Staff reporting to this position includes Clinical Operations Directors, Quality Assurance and Compliance, Revenue Cycle, Facilities Manager, and Executive Assistant. This position also collaborates with the CEI OR Director and Outreach Coordinator.
Position provides administrative support to the Chair, Director and Associate Director of Research in the areas of:
Minimum BA degree in business, healthcare administration or related field. At least 5 years experience in healthcare management to include expertise in business development, clinical operations, contracting and finance is required.
Experience in key level management position in a healthcare environment.
Strong working knowledge of budget development, physician billing practices and contract development is required. Proven leadership skills are imperative. Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills are essential. Ability to design, develop and implement new programs and plan strategically is required. Must be innovative and creative, and demonstrate ability to influence faculty and administration on key decisions and programs. Ability to work well with management and staff at all levels of the organization is imperative.
Management experience in Ophthalmology, academic medicine or group practice strongly preferred.
