Function/Duties of Position

The Department of Neurology (www.ohsu.edu/neurology), and its research units in the Jungers Center (www.ohsu.edu/jungers) and the Parkinson Center of Oregon, (www.ohsu.edu/xd/research/centers-institutes/neurology/parkinson-center) at Oregon Health & Science University has a position available for physician-scientist with research interests applicable to Parkinson’s disease. The focus of the search is basic investigation of the causes and treatments of neurodegeneneration that are relevant to human disease. The Jungers Center sits in the new building on a hill overlooking Portland and is directly connected to basic neuroscience laboratories in the Vollum Institute (www.ohsu.edu/vollum) and the School of Medicine, and also houses the Advanced Imaging Research Center and the Oregon Stem Cell Center. OHSU is Oregon’s only academic medical center and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate in graduate and postdoctoral training programs. Junior and senior investigators will be considered. Joint appointments are possible in the Vollum Institute and basic science departments in the School of Medicine. The Department of Neurology has clinical and investigative strengths in Alzheimer’s disease, Movement Disorders, Stroke, and Multiple Sclerosis. This position must come with their own grant funds.

 

Appointments will be research positions with limited teaching or clinical requirements, and an expectation of sustaining an externally funded research program. Ample opportunities are available for collaboration with clinical units within the School of Medicine as well as research units at OHSU.
