Function/Duties of Position

The Deparment of Psychiatry is recruiting for a Research Assistant 2.  This will be a one-year position and will require an independent, motivated and organized individual who will help develop and manage a new project for behavioral health data at Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

 

This individual will work with the project PI and leadership team to develop a behavioral health data system to track key behavioral health data in the ED and children's hospital. This will include all inpatient psychology and psychiatry consults, as well as other metrics related to the care of this population.

 

The individual will need to know how to set up REDCap database, work with stakeholders to identify key data points, and establish efficient ways to track this data over time. This may involve coordinating with EPIC personnel to develop automated data collection pathways.

 

The individual will also conduct follow-up calls with DCH patients and families to understand their experience with BH teams in the hospital.

 

Finally, the individual will work with the leadership team to develop a long-term evaluation and quality improvement plan that can be leveraged for further funding and quality improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in relevant field OR Associate's AND 3 years of relevant experience OR 4 years of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • The position requires sufficient computer knowledge to interface with a variety of database, statistical, and imaging task and processing software.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effectiveness in organizing tasks and setting priorities, multi-tasking, working efficiently with minimum oversight, interacting constructively with faculty and staff, and the ability to be adaptable, creative, and a quick learner are all necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science field.
  • 1-3 years prior research and/or mental health systems experience.
  • Previous experience working with Redcap. Previous experience building APIs.
  • Is certified by OHSU to speak Spanish with patients and families.
