Department Overview

 The OHSU registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and

efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. The RN’s care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics and meets the standards/expectations of a Professional Practice Model. In that model, the RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist, leader, practitioner, and knowledge transferor. Professional accountability enriches the RN’s engagement as a leader in promoting an inter-professional culture of collaborative decision-making, i nnovation, life-long learning, and teamwork.

Function/Duties of Position

 

The nurse in this position will provide comprehensive care to home infusion patients in an outpatient setting, including, but not limited to, the administration of antibiotics, immunologics, TPN, chemotherapy, and supportive care. The RN will be required to travel to the patient’s home and various locations in order to provide infusion therapy. The nurse will be assigned to coordinate care and ensure the patient and family are receiving OHSU’s highest quality of nursing care. This nurse will provide availability in accordance with ONA contract guidelines with the expectation of fulfilling two shifts/month- one of which will include one Saturday per department need and set forth staffing plan.

Required Qualifications

Communication skills including

fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information and tools.

  • Previous Experience in ambulatory or infusion.
  •  Minimum two years of nursing experience with acutely ill patients
  • Current unencumbered Oregon RN and WA licenses (WA within 30 days of hire).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support Valid drivers license
  • BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
  • ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
  • Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
  • BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • BLS must not expire during orientation
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatric acute care experience preferred.
  • Previous home infusion or home health experience preferred.
  • CRNI
  • INS Membership preferred
