Function/Duties of Position

The PAS Coordinator is responsible for coordination of assignments for the PAS team in the Department of Neurology. This position is responsible for supporting our patients and employees in all elements of the PAS role. This position is responsible for providing expert guidance and oversight for our PAS Specialist team. This position supports the practice by providing leadership and excellent customer service through prompt and professional communication skills, face-to-face customer contact skills, and excellent problem-solving skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Two years of front-line clerical experience in a clinical setting with direct patient contact.
  • Experience must include scheduling of appointments and obtaining managed care authorizations.
  • Basic medical terminology understanding.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the team.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Active listening skills; ability to deal with customers in stressful situations; ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to manage time sensitive competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to create and maintain quality working relationships with staff and faculty at all levels of the organization, using good judgement in recognizing the scope of authority.
  • Excellent communication skills both in-person, via telephone, or through electronic methods of communication.
  • Highly sensitive to patient needs.
  • Good organization, follow through and time management skills; ability to prioritize.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree.
  • Two years of experience as a PAS Specialist.
  • Prior Neurology or Primary Care experience.
  • Preference given to candidates with knowledge of OHSU’s PAS policies and procedures, with completed PAS training and core competencies, and with previous PAS experience.
  • Prior experience with Epic.
  • Successful completion of Epic courses.
  • Experience with template maintenance.

Additional Details

Work schedule:

General Neurology Monday – Friday 8:00am  – 5:00pm, Max two days remote, negotiable with PM

 

Physical Demands & Equipment Usage:

Continuous:

  • Changing positions throughout the day.

Frequent:

  • Standing on carpeted surface and hard surface floors.
  • Sitting in office chair.
  • Twisting from waist while on the telephone to reach supplies, etc.
  • Walking around clinic on carpeted and hard surface floors.
  • Climbing of carpeted stairs and hard surface, can also utilize elevator.

Occasional:

  • May have to carry/lift objects, supplies, and boxes.
  • May have to push or pull cart with charts.
  • Bending from the waist to pick up boxes, etc.
  • Reaching for telephone, supplies, etc.
