Department Overview

The OHSU-PSU School of Public Health (SPH) is aligned with the American Public Health Association in declaring racism a public health crisis, and our School is committed to becoming an antiracist SPH. Function/Duties of Position

  • Statistical collaboration including project management, data management, statistical analysis, and statistical report, grant application and manuscript  preparation. 

  • Assist in triaging pre- and post-award requests for biostatistics collaboration in the BDP. This includes working with BDP admin to track and report unit’s activities.

  • Contribute to discussion and decision on study design, statistical approaches and analytical strategies with PI, co-PIs and other collaborators.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree in biostatistics, statistics or related field (e.g. epidemiology) OR Bachelors degree in biostatistics, statistics or related field (plus experience see below)
  • Advanced training in statistical programming as demonstrated by coursework and/or certification.
  • Master's level applicants must have at least 3 years of collaborative research experience, preferably in health services research. Bachelor's level applicants must have at least 6 years of collaborative research experience.

  • Demonstrated mature and effective interpersonal communications skills including tact, diplomacy and flexibility with appropriate demeanor to maintain good working relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with faculty and investigators, staff, students, and visitors at all levels within OHSU and in the community.
  • The ability to forge and foster collaborative working relationships and enlist the support of faculty and staff, both within and external to BDP and the institution.
  • Effective written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks under conditions of fluctuating workloads, competing requirements, and changing deadlines; working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction. Ability to work in a complex environment.
  • Discretionary judgment necessary to handle confidential matters.
  • Ability to analyze problems and offer creative solutions and implement changes.
  • Strong time management and demonstrated capability to work on multiple projects at one time. 
  • Strong demonstrated organization skills, with the ability to understand overall program objectives and maintain attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in statistical programming.
  • PStat certification by American Statistical Association
  • At least 5 years working on research involving data from the Veteran’s Administration
  • 8 or more years supporting health services research. At least 3 years of research data management experience with large, administrative, EHR, and/or complex databases
  • Project management experience is highly desirable

Additional Details

Some occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary. Flexible remote work schedule can be arranged.
