In the Ajami Lab (OHSU), we are building next-generation tools to decode how immune cells, especially microglia, shape the course of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and ALS. Our vision? To reverse-engineer the immune system in the brain using patients samples and cutting-edge single-cell and spatial omics. We're looking for a Lead Data Scientist to helm the bioinformatics arm of the lab. You'll work closely with our internal team and external consultant and industry collaborators such as to develop and re-engineer machine learning and AI tools tailored specifically for brain-resident immune cells. You will also mentor and guide our sharp in-house data science crew, helping take our analysis pipelines and disease modeling to the next level.
Implement and adapt existing analytic tools for high dimensional data analysis.
Development and application of data-analytical and theoretical methods, mathematical modeling and computational simulation techniques.
Write programs in R and Python.
Help to develop new analytic pipelines and tool.
PhD in immunology or Computational Biology with knowledge of immunology OR
Master's Degree in Computational Biology or related field AND 6 years of relevant experience.
Equivalent combination of Bachelor's in relevant field in conjunction with training and experience may be considered.
Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems.
