This position will provide services as assigned by the Supervisor to help further the academic mission of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Technical Writer position will help to support faculty in planning, writing and editing for publications and submissions to academic associations.
Publications/Journals and Article Submissions – This position will support faculty by helping to plan, gather information, format, edit and revise a variety of publications, journals, abstracts, on-line publications and article submissions. This will include reading through all the copy for a sense of the content, researching sources if needed to verify accuracy, detecting and correcting for spelling, grammatical and syntax errors, move or amend sentences and paragraphs to enhance clarity and continuity, change or re-write language as needed consistent with the author’s intent, index and cross-reference documents as needed and ensure copy meets publishing guidelines for submissions.
This position will also assist in design layout for the structure of manuscripts, figures, and tables that may include re-formatting material as needed for submissions, letters of intent, PowerPoint slide preparation.
This position also will act as contact for medical students, residents and staff for academic editing and publication support/consultation as needed.
Data Analysis and Gathering - This position may assist in writing summary documentation of faculty gathered data for input into articles and publications. This position may also help in literature searches.
Competence with Microsoft Office Products, Endnote (or equivalent referencing software), Pubmed (other medical literature databases)
Master’s Degree in relevant field.
