Department Overview

This position functions within the Perioperative and MSPU Services Department.

 The 6A PACU Manager plans, organizes, manages and directs the activities of the hospital department(s).  This position has continuous operational authority and responsibility for accomplishments of the hospital departmental goals and objectives. The Manager of the 6A PACU has operational authority over pre-op/PACU/post-op located in the main hospital/KPV. This role functions as a role model and resource person.

Function/Duties of Position

This position establishes and maintains effective relationships with patients, families physicians, staff, administration, other departments and external agencies to identify expectations, determine variance, jointly identify targets, design or modify processes, and monitor and evaluate the results leading to additional improvement. 

 

 This position performs Managerial activities on /off shift hours and includes discipline, evaluations and enforcing adherence to hospital and clinical standards of performance. 

 

Responsiblities include budget/finance management, personnel management assistance in space planning, facilities, inventory and equipment.  The 6A PACU Manager works closely with the Director of Adult Perioperative Services and the VP of Perioperative and MSPU Services. The Manager works with and advises the Department Director in the management, development, direction, coordination and evaluation of the practice of professional nursing. Supports staff to facilitate a multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach in the provision of health care within a specialty area. Aids in the productivity and efficiency targets on Perioperative Dashboard, regarding delays, efficiency, quality, safety and staff and patient care satisfaction. The Manager has 24 hour/day operational responsibility, functions as a clinical resource, and assumes Department director functions in his/her absence.

Required Qualifications

  • BSN or higher degree in nursing AND
  • Master’s degree in nursing or related field, or in process 
  • Five or more years relevant clinical  experience and demonstrated management and leadership experience with increasing responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish goals and objectives.  Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills,  fiscal/budgetary skills.  Intermediate Level skills in MS Word, Excel, EPIC OpTime, Powerpoint, Outlook. Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of diverse customers in difficult situations. Skill in developing and maintaining professional relationships. Ability to prioritize work demands. Ability to interpret complex policies and procedure and develop written guidelines.
  • Current unencumbered Oregon RN license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing leadership
