The Procedural Care Unit consists of 2 care locations as follows: 1. 11B PCU: 21 bed unit; open Monday 0600-Saturday 1100, or until the last patient discharges on Saturday. 2. Level 2 at CHH-2 (MSPU Pre/Post): 33 beds and a 4-position Discharge Lounge, open Monday through Friday 0700-1930. We provide care for patients across the age continuum, ranging from infant to geriatric, who are having diagnostic and /or therapeutic procedures in the Cardiac Cath, Electrophysiology, Interventional Radiology/Neuroradiology, Gastrointestinal/Endoscopy, and General Radiology Labs, with the capability to provide cardiac monitoring to any of the above patients.
The PCU recovers General Anesthesia Recovery patients originating from any of the above listed procedural areas. Some procedures (TEE, Cardioversions, Bone Marrow Biopsies) are done on 11B, with the RNs administering moderate sedation for TEEs and managing recovering for all procedures done in the unit.

This position is a variable 12 hour shift between 0600-2300. Current shift starts are 0600, 0700 and 0900. Variable days including potentially every other Friday. Mandatory call requirement (currently one 4hr shift per schedule).
Usual Orientation Time: The PCU patient population and required skills set is extremely diverse, and as such, orientation varies depending on experience and assessment of learning needs. Orientation will typically span 6 weeks. During orientation, RNs work 36-39 hr/week (variable 8 or12 hour shifts), regardless of the FTE/shift length they are hired into.
