Department Overview

The Cardiology Clinic is a multidisciplinary practice with primary locations at the Center for Health and Healing and Beaverton, and ancillary locations at the Center for Women's Health and Physicians Pavilion. The practice cares for adult patients ages 18 and older with cardiac diseases. The Cardiology Clinic RN is a key member of the multi- disciplinary patient care team, which includes physicians, advanced-practice providers, medical assistants, schedulers and other clinical and management support staff.

 

Core responsibilities include direct patient care, telephone triage, care management, clinical portions of pre-authorizations, participation in quality improvement, program and staff development within cardiology. This position may support one or more sections of our practice.


This position requires independent critical thinking, case management, engagement in transitions of care, and the ability to appropriately triage patients with complex, multi-system medical problems. The RN must be able to work as a team with providers, nurses, medical assistants, schedulers, and all other disciplines as needed, and functions in a collaborative manner to ensure effective and timely communication with the patient, family, and other team members.

Function/Duties of Position

The OHSU registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. The RN’s care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics and meets the standards/expectations of the OHSU Nursing Professional Practice Model. In that model, the RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist, leader, practitioner, and knowledge transfer. Professional accountability enriches the RN’s engagement as a leader in promoting an inter-professional culture of collaborative decision-making, innovation, life-long learning, and teamwork.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience with emphasis on adult cardiovascular care, including telemetry.
  • BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
  • ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
  • Current, unencumbered Washington RN license
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon RN license
  • Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
  • Current, unencumbered Washington RN license
  • Current BLS certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Proficiency in telemetry and rhythm interpretation.

Additional Details

 

 Length of Orientation – Experienced Nurse

  • External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week.
  • Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Specialty Fellowship/Fellowship Learning Pathway or Orientation experience for 3 days-26 weeks depending on the care area. An employment service agreement may apply.
