The Knight Cardiovascular Institute (KCVI) is recognized as a top integrated center for cardiovascular clinical care, translational research and professional training in all aspects of heart and vascular disease. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
Experience in complex coronary intervention is strongly preferred.
This position reports to (supervisor): Section Head of Interventional Cardiology and Division Head of Cardiovascular Medicine
Clinical: You will work clinically as an interventional cardiologist. For interventional cardiology you will spend an average of two (2) days a week in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, with a focus on complex coronary interventions (chronic total occlusion and high-risk PCI). You are expected to cover your fair share of interventional call (weeknights, weekends, and holidays) and clinic. Additional clinical work will be assigned as needed.
Education: You are expected to spend a portion of your time on education-related activities. You will be expected to participate in the development of an interventional cardiology fellowship at OHSU and have the trainees participate in your valvular heart disease program.
Must be a licensed MD with an active Oregon license upon hire. Board Certified in Cardiology, board eligible/certified in Interventional Cardiology. DEA certification as well as current BCLS and ACLS certification.
Prior experience working in an academic health facility would be preferred. Ideal candidate will have expertise in complex coronary and structural heart disease procedures. High risk PCI including chronic total occlusion techniques is an essential component of this position. Preferred individual should also be capable in valvuloplasty, percutaneous valve implantation, ASD/PFO, perivalvular leak, and post-MI VSD closures, alcohol septal ablation, and implantation of percutaneous ventricular assist devices.
