The Institute on Development and Disability within the Department of Pediatrics at OHSU works with patients, families, clinicians, researchers and many other professionals to meet the goal of improving the lives of people with disabilities. We perform research and care to support every patient, from premature babies to older adults, facing changes in life due to the onset of disabling conditions. With more than 100 years of practice, we understand how to best meet the needs of our patients and their families in Oregon and beyond.
The OCCYSHN Family Involvement Manager position resides within the Oregon Center of Children and Youth with Special Health Needs (OCCYSHN) in the Institute on Development & Disability (IDD) at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). The Family Involvement Program (FIP) Manager administers and leads the work fulfilling the deliverables the Family-to-Family Health Information Center grant (ORF2FHIC) and supports Oregon’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau Title V Block Grant program for children and youth with special health needs (CYSHCN) through the development, planning, and implementation of strategies and activities to assure ongoing family engagement and involvement in all Title V activities. In addition, this position will bring that same assurance to all IDD-OCCYSHN partnered activities, including the LEND Family Discipline.
Title V Activities:The position facilitates and promotes family-professional partnerships and family engagement on behalf of the Title V CYSHCN Block Grant program, and supports all Title V activities in relation to the needs and requirements for family involvement.
The FIP Manager:
The Family Involvement Manager will coordinate and manage all activities, sub-functions and organizational needs and priorities of the Family Involvement Program both within OCCYSHN and at the State Level. The Family Involvement Manager is a state leader for Family of Children and Youth with Special Health Needs and will frequently represent the family voice at state level meetings and at the state capitol, and will participate in initiatives of the federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB).
ORF2FHIC Responsibilities: The ORF2HIC is a federally funded grant project designed to improve access to health information and services for CYSHCN and their families. The OCCYSHN Family Involvement Manager may serve as the PI for the ORF2FHIC, based on qualifications. If they are not eligible to be faculty at OHSU, the OCCYSHN Director will serve as the grant PI, with the FIP manager responsible for day-to-day management of programming, and supervision of parent partners.
The FIP Manager:
IDD-OCCYSHN Activities: the Family Involvement Manager will oversee the supervision of the LEND Family Discipline Director.
