Function/Duties of Position

The Dental Navigator will call patients who miss appointments to reschedule, contact patients who have dropped out of care to encourage them to return to the clinic, follow up on referrals for patients, contact medical offices if needed for referral and care coordination. The Dental Navigator will also coordinate outreach with our partner agencies and primary care system to increase integration of health care treatment for our patients. This person will also participate in managing the reporting requirements for our Medicaid patients.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a healthcare related field that may include such areas as nursing, community health education, psychology or sociology is required OR
  • 5+ years of dental insurance experience, working with dental referrals, insurance verification, conflict resolution, working with no and low-income patients
  • Minimum two (2) years of healthcare setting, such as hospital, clinic or health plan, experience is required
  • BLS Certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Demonstrable record of reliable attendance, punctuality and proven successful performance at past and present employers
  • Demonstrated exemplary tact, discretion, confidentiality and diplomacy
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write and understand written and oral instructions in English
  • Demonstrated record of exemplary customer service experience
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and prioritize duties

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health care related field that may include such areas as community health education, psychology or sociology is preferred
  • Dental public health experience, or experience working with diverse groups of people
  • Prior experience in case management in a health care setting, such as hospital, clinic or health plan is preferred
  • Medicaid billing and coordination
