The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.

 

This position reports to (supervisor): Deborah Duran-Snell.

Function/Duties of Position

The duties of this position include: teaching in the nurse-midwifery education program (focus area), and clinical practice/clinical teaching in the OHSU Nurse-Midwifery Faculty Practice. Participation in scholarship and service is also an expected part of this academically focused position.

 

Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research):

  • Plans and supervises student lab and/or clinical experiences or practice based on teaching assignment.
  • Clinical practice/clinical teaching in OHSU Nurse-Midwifery Faculty Practice as negotiated
  • In the practice environment, teaching occurs concurrently with clinical activities. 

 

Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant supported work, presentations, etc.):

  • Participates in scholarly activities based on faculty rank.
    • At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the practice mission, demonstrates competence in an area of clinical expertise and engages in inquiry and scholarship that contributes to the practice of clinical practice.

Education Activities (include types of teaching and types of student taught):

  • Provides effective didactic instruction based on teaching assignment using appropriate instructional technologies to ensure that course outcomes are met.
  • Participates collaboratively in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum.
  • Mentors and advises students.
  • Supervise students in DNP clinical inquiry projects

 

Service Activities:

  • These activities could include faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program or Academic Director.
  • Participates in faculty governance; additional engagement based on rank.

 

Administrative Activities:

  • As negotiated.

 

Other Activities:

  • The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

Required Qualifications

Education (Degree dependent on academic program type and rank of position.):

  • PhD/DNP or equivalent

 

Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses (Current licensure & certifications could be required depending on position and academic program.):

  • Oregon RN license
  • Oregon APRN license
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • NRP certification
  • Other: National certification as ACNM/ACC/AMCB

Experience (Experience dependent on academic program type and rank of position.):

  • A minimum of three years of full scope midwifery practice is required;
  • 3 years of clinical practice experience required
