The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, known as one of the pioneers in personalized cancer medicine, is an international leader in research and cancer treatment. Driven by its mission to end cancer as we know it, the institute is building upon its expertise in targeted treatments to advance the early detection of cancer when the disease is most treatable.
The Division of Oncological Science is a collaborative and multidisciplinary division with a broad range of expertise and well-established research programs in the following four disciplines: cancer system biology, medicinal medicine, cancer data science, and cancer population science. There are opportunities for interaction with physicians and pharmaceutical collaborators.
Every Knight Cancer employee is expected to embody our guiding principles:
A postdoc position is available for a motivated candidate to join the Zhang laboratory in the Division of Oncological Science within the Knight Cancer Institute at OHSU. The postdoc will be co-mentored by Dr. Gordon Mills, a nationally recognized leader in precision oncology and cancer systems biology, currently serving as the Director of Precision Oncology, SMMART, and AMTEC clinical trials at the Knight Cancer Institute.
This position will assist in research that shows how temporal, spatial, and dose perturbation of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes predispose to cancer development and how could we use the specific vulnerabilities, including the haploinsufficient phenotype observed in patients with chromosome and copy number deletions to develop synthesize lethal therapeutics. The selected candidate will help establish project goals, define short- and long-term scientific strategies, perform in vitro and in vivo experiments, and contribute to the preparation of project-related documents, including presentations, grant applications, and publications.
