Department Overview

The Molecular & Medical Genetics department within OHSU's School of Medicine is seeking a student worker to assist in the Van Calcar Lab. Under direct supervision, primarily provides general administrative support for the lab.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Assist with organization and development of educational handouts for Metabolic Clinic patients.
  • Word Processing. Type simple letters, forms, memos, labels, and other material from rough draft, or detailed instructions; proofreads documents for general clarity, punctuation, grammar, spelling, capitalization, and typing errors; completes and types forms with information from clearly indicated sources.
  • General Office support. Phone calls as assigned; general online medical record system support, including sending handouts or basic letters to patients via EPIC platform; provides copy or mail service upon request.
  • Diet record analysis via Metabolic Pro or other database.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in an Undergraduate Program (minimum 6 credit hours).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three months general office experience; meet ACEND requirements for a dietetics internship.

Additional Details

Flexible work schedule; approximately 4 to 5 hrs a week.
