Doernbecher PeriAnesthesia is dedicated to fostering a professional practice environment with a strong focus on role and relationship competence. RNs provide care consistent with ASPAN standards and evidence-based practice, while contributing to the growth of the nursing profession and continuous improvement of unit practices to enhance the value of care for patients and families. This fast-paced, patient- and family-centered department provides care for pediatric patients from neonates to young adults, including ambulatory and inpatient surgeries, urgent/emergent procedures, after-hours sedation, and prolonged procedural recoveries. RNs work in a collaborative environment, maintaining positive collegial relationships with all interdisciplinary team members.
The RN provides care consistent with ASPAN standards and evidence-based practice. The RN is responsible for participating in the growth of the nursing profession and continuous improvement to achieve best practice in our unit to increase the value of care we provide to our patients and families.
We provide fast-paced, patient and family-centered, pediatric PeriAnesthesia care. Pediatric patient populations range from neonates to young adults and include ambulatory, inpatient, urgent/emergent surgeries, after hour’s sedation and prolonged procedural recoveries. Positive collegial relationships with all interdisciplinary team members.
The PeriAnesthesia unit is staffed Monday to Friday from 0600 to 2230. Shift start times and lengths are variable. RN staff are required to take call for surgeries after hours, holidays and weekends based on the unit rotation. RNs provide pre- and post-anesthesia care.
