Department Overview

The Nechiporuk Lab focuses on the basic research concerning development of the peripheral nervous system in zebrafish. This project investigates the developmental specification and functional properties of "pioneer" neurons during cranial sensory circuit formation. The position builds on our recent work: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40593691/

We are interested in following questions related to the pioneer neurons’ biology: how pioneer neurons are specified and migrate to their destination, how they interact with surrounding tissues, and what pioneer-specific factors guide follower neurons. The RA2 will assist other members of the lab with experiments related to these questions.
