The mission of Risk Management is to provide a comprehensive risk management program that contributes to health, safety and protection of patients, employees, faculty, students and visitors, while also protecting the University's physical and financial resources. OHSU uses a combination of self-insurance and commercial insurance to fund risk of loss. Risk manages over 30 lines of insurance as well as a captive insurance company. Claims are managed internally by experienced claims managers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of deductibles, risk retention, and coinsurance practices.
Ability to interpret and analyze actuarial studies.
Experience evaluating indemnification contract provisions.
Familiarity with claims investigation & management processes.
Ability to be accountable to deadlines & to drive projects to completion.
Demonstrate effective leadership and diplomacy skills.
Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office applications and underwriting software.
Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with company personnel and customers.
Ability to work independently and as a team.
Demonstrates strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and timeliness.
Demonstrates the ability to work in a fast-paced environment meeting aggressive business deadlines.
4 or more years of commercial line insurance experience.
Experience with self–insured or high SIR programs, and/or captive programs
Must be able to respond to 24/7 pages one week per month.
Occasional need to be present for work on OHSU’s main campus and satellite campuses in the Portland area.
