Department Overview

The Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center (HTC) is home to over 45 faculty and staff, engaged in the clinical, research, public health, outreach, and education missions. The HTC is a multidisciplinary center, providing comprehensive care to adult, adolescent, and pediatric patients.

 

Function/Duties of Position

This position is responsible for providing the services of a licensed pharmacist within the HTC. The pharmacist specializes in caring for patients of all ages with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.

 

Responsibilities include ensuring the safe and proper distribution of medications through both clinical support and prescription dispensing. The pharmacist will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, actively supporting the HTC clinic by providing patient care, participating in patient visits, managing medications, and collaborating with other providers. Additionally, the pharmacist will support the mission, initiatives, and goals of the HTC clinic, ensuring alignment with its commitment to comprehensive patient care.

Required Qualifications

  • A current Pharmacist’s license issued by the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy.
  • B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm.D.
  • Community pharmacy practice or inpatient pharmacy practice experience.
  • Proficiency in clinical drug therapy management (dosing, indications, contraindications, interations, monitoring).
  • Ability to accurately evaluate and verify prescription orders for appropriateness, safety, and completeness.
  • Knowledge of contemporary medication-use systems (order entry/verification, dispensing, inventory management, and regulatory compliance).
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced pharmacy practice residency.
  • Experience in specialty pharmacy practice, including hemophilia/bleeding disorders.
  • Hospital outpatient pharmacy practice experience.
  • Experience in managing patients with bleeding disorders in an ambulatory setting.
  • Experience with factor product prescriptions.
  • Specialist certifications (BCPS, BCOPS, BCACP, BCGP, etc.)
  • State of Oregon Pharmacy Preceptor licensure.
