Department Overview

The Research Project Manager will provide project management support for Dr. Erin Kenzie as she expands her research portfolio, particularly in the area of cancer prevention and control. Position manages daily operations of laboratory, including task and timeline management and supporting lab staff and trainees in accordance with Institutional Review Board and regulatory approvals. This role designs and develops major program components for research integrating systems science approaches into research into cancer prevention and control, as well as leads project management to ensure deliverables are timely and within budget. This role will be actively involved in funding (e.g., grants, contracts) and writing scientific findings for publication. This role is a part-time position at a maximum of 0.20 FTE with possibility of additional FTE in the future.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Manage the development and submission of grant proposals and contracts
  • Design and develop major program components for proposed projects in coordination with PI
  • Manage communication and coordination between PI and research partners
  • Support scientific manuscript writing and data analysis for publication of findings in peer-reviewed literature, and presentations at academic conferences and proceedings
  • Provide administrative support to laboratory staff and trainees, including managing staff budget
  • Manage daily operations of funded research projects 

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in relevant field AND 3 years of relevant experience 

  • OR Equivalent combination of Bachelor's in relevant field in conjunction with training and experience

  • Experience with project management duties similar to key duties and responsibilities of this role

  • Experience in professional role related to systems science and/or systems thinking

  • Documented expertise in systems science and/or systems thinking

  • Experience with qualitative or quantitative data collection and analysis

  • Basic project management skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize project goals

  • Strong conceptual, analytic, oral, and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Rigorous attention to detail and record keeping

  • Resourcefulness and sound professional/ethical judgment

  • Commitment to contributing to an inclusive working environment

  • Proficient with word processing, Adobe, and Microsoft Office software.

  • Ability to perform the job duties with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with implementation science approaches

  • Experience in cancer prevention and control

  • Experience in grant proposal development and submission

Additional Details

Part-time position in the hours of Monday - Friday 9:00am - 4:30pm; flexibility in work schedule to be determined in consultation with supervisor. Primarily remote work with occasional in person meetings on OHSU campus.
