Department Overview

The Department of Psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) invites applications for a full-time, board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic. This is an outstanding opportunity for a clinician-educator to practice in a collaborative academic environment while contributing to high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care.

Function/Duties of Position

The Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic is located on OHSU’s academic campus in southwest Portland. The clinic is home to am expanding multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, PMHNPs, physician assistants, psychologists, neuropsychologists, and 20–24 psychiatry residents (PGY2–PGY4).

The clinic provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment across a broad range of conditions, including mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma-related disorders, somatic symptom disorders, ADHD, and other complex presentations. Faculty benefit from access to a wide array of treatment modalities and consultation resources within an academic health system.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an outpatient continuity panel, including a mix of in-person and telehealth visits
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric care, including:
    • 60–90 minute new patient evaluations and consultations (minimum 0.1 FTE; approximately 2 consults per week, with flexibility for additional consult work based on interest)
    • 30-minute medication management visits
    • 60-minute combined psychotherapy and medication management sessions
  • Manage patient care with flexibility in follow-up frequency to support high-quality, individualized treatment
  • Participate in indirect clinical care (approximately 0.2 FTE), including management of complex patient messages and medication refills
  • Engage in the academic mission through:
    • Participation in weekly CME-accredited Grand Rounds and M&M conferences
    • Attendance at monthly clinic
    • For faculty, opportunities for teaching, mentorship, committee service, and scholarly collaboration

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed as a P.sychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the state of Oregon (or eligible for licensure)
  • Board certification required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a psychiatry fellowship or possession of Psychiatry Specialty Certification (CAQ-Psych) preferred.
