The Collins Lab at Oregon Health & Science University is recruiting for a Research Assistant II position to assist with human electrophysiology experiments and data analysis. Comfort with in-person interactions with patients is necessary. Familiarity with the electronic medical record and proficiency with basic computer applications such as Excel and Powerpoint is desirable. Ability to program in Matlab and/or Python or willingness to learn would be beneficial. Primary duties will include data collection, consenting of patients, assistance with IRB and compliance activities, data analysis under the direction of laboratory staff, and assistance with manuscript preparation. Work will be conducted under the direction of Dr. Kelly Collins (PI) as part of the Papé Family Pediatric Research Institute at OHSU.
Bachelor’s in relevant field OR
Associate’s AND 3 years of relevant experience OR
4 years of relevant experience OR
Equivalent combination of training and experience
Proficient in the use of Excel.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to plan, document, analyze and report data; highly motivated and organized, proven capability of time management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of diverse staff, co-workers, investigators.
Independence and ability to prioritize work demands and to coordinate and document research findings with other staff.
Organizational skills and careful attention to details to satisfactorily perform job duties.
High level of self-motivation and integrity.
Experience working in person with patients
Experience with clinical/medical writing
Largely Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day, not including lunch or break; however, some weekend/holiday work and longer work days should be expected. Specific hours of work on each day should be expected to be variable as needed to collect data from patients, complete the research, and meet deadlines.
