Function/Duties of Position

Under direct supervision, the student worker primarily performs basic research or lab activities similar to a Research Assistant 1 or Lab Aide.  Work will be bench science conducted at the Portland VA.  Duties include the following:  (1) mouse colony management (pairing of breeders and genotyping); (2) weighing and dosing of mice; (3) collection of post-mortem mouse tissue. Hours will be within 8am-5pm window Monday- Friday. Position goes through end of summer 2026.

Required Qualifications

Enrolled in or on vacation from, or is otherwise registered in an undergraduate program (minimum 6 credit hours) OR graduate program (minimum 4.5 credit hours).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous research experience
  • Competence with Microsoft office programs
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs
