Department Overview

The OHSU School of Medicine is the organizational home for practicing clinicians who care for patients in OHSU Health hospitals and clinics. These clinicians all belong to the OHSU Practice Plan (OPP), the largest organized clinical practice in Oregon. The goal of the OPP is to establish and maintain the OHSU Practice Plan as a premier academic clinical practice for faculty and clinical associates.

 

The OHSU Practice Plan (OPP) Project Manager manages projects supporting the mission of the OHSU Practice Plan and School of Medicine. Works collaboratively with all areas within the clinical enterprise to ensure timely process change and utilization improvements. The OPP Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring project deliverables are on time and on budget. This role is a 1.0 FTE role and receives project assignments at the discretion of the Sr. Project Manager, OPP, VP, OPP and SVP, OPP.


This position supports integration across the administrative and project responsibilities of the OHSU Practice Plan (OPP) and School of Medicine. The position collaborates with Practice Plan and School of Medicine executives to continually improve the operational and financial performance of the practice plan.


Works directly with internal and external stakeholders to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. Coordinates with other departments to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible and not in conflict with any other known projects or initiatives.


Must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Perform a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Function/Duties of Position

1. Project Management

  • Collaborates with OHSU Practice Plan and School of Medicine leaders from planning through project completion.
  • In consultation with Project Teams, facilitates identification of key stakeholders, communication needs and ensures appropriate stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Delivers and maintains project document plans, reports and related communications and correspondence.  
  • Ensures a strong line of communication on project deliverables, timelines, updates, outcomes, risks and budget.
  • Designs and recommends a method for regular stakeholder updates, taking into consideration standard work tools.  Prepares and delivers presentations as indicated.
  • Identifies and recommends approaches to issues and identifies the most effective means of solving issues, engaging best practices and doing so in a timely manner, thus insuring project success.  
  • Serves as subject matter expert on the project.
  • Engages others to join in a culture of collaboration and accountability for project deliverables. 

2. Relationship Management

  • Collaborate with internal and external service partners to provide excellent customer service to the OHSU community and customers. 

4. Continued Professional Development

  • Participate in appropriate activities that enhance general knowledge of or ability to do assigned work.  This includes, but is not limited to, the following: attend classes, seminars, and other training forums; attend staff meetings and other informational sessions; read vendor documentation, trade publications, or other sources appropriate to position; interact with peers and other employees to receive and disseminate information. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of related program/project management experience.

  • At least two years of supervisory or management experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to be a self starter and experience to know when to escalate key issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize Smartsheet for operational processes and reporting.

  • Must have exceptional customer service experience and skills. 

  • Must be an effective communicator in both oral and written venues.

  • Must serve as a positive and professional role model.

  • Must have a demonstrated record of reliable attendance, punctuality and proven successful performance at past and present employers.

  • Must have the ability and experience to use Smartsheet to manage projects.

  • Computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, Windows applications, and use of database software, Excel, Visio, etc.

  • Outcomes driven and has the ability to achieve results in a timely manner.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop concise communications.

  • Superb organizational skills and strong customer service orientation and experience.

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, healthcare management, business administration or related field.

  • Project management experience in a healthcare setting.

Additional Details

Work Location: Will vary between telecommuting and OHSU Campus.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm with the possibility of work outside of normal working hours as necessary
