Casey Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology at OHSU is recruiting for a Research Assistant position to assist with the coordination of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) research at Casey Eye Institute.

Function/Duties of Position

Clinical recruitment, data gathering and organization.  Includes contacting patient families, soliciting medical and family history information, obtaining consent, organizing clinic scheduling, completing medical record release forms, contacting hospitals and clinics for medical records, and reviewing received records for completeness.

 

Data entry and analysis.  Includes daily clinical and research data entry into databases as well as performing queries of departmental database(s) as requested by investigators. Ability to interpret and write Python computer code for advanced data and image analysis.

 

Drafting of papers for publication.   Contributing to the development of research documentation for publication and/or prepare reports and papers.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's in relevant field OR Associate's AND 3 years of relevant experience OR 4 years of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experience

 

Experience with patient/family interactions, coordination between legal guardians and children, and strong relationship building and interpersonal communication skills. Basic computer keyboarding skills (typing speed >40wpm).  Python programming skills for data analysis purposes. Experience with prior image analysis, as well as developing pupil tracking analysis, strongly desired. Motivated, ability to problem solve.  Demonstrated evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to manage competing priorities.  Ability to meet deadlines and urgent system needs.  Ability to work independently; willingness to serve as a positive and professional role model.  Must have demonstrated record of reliable attendance, punctuality and proven successful performance in past and present.
