The OHSU Department of Surgery is comprised of nine integrated yet independent surgery divisions: Abdominal Organ Transplantation, Bariatric, Cardiothoracic, Gastrointestinal and General, Pediatric, Plastic and Reconstructive, Oncology, Trauma and Acute Care and Vascular Surgery. Our department is built on a culture of community and a history of innovative and interdisciplinary collaboration. Our faculty are dedicated to excellence in education, research, scholarship and clinical practice. We also house one of the largest general surgery residency programs in the country and offer surgery fellowships in all of our disciplines. The Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible for screening and recruitment of study subjects, scheduling and completion of study visits based on protocols, data entry, and monitoring of study compliance relating to the human subjects committee, the federal government, and study sponsors. Other responsibilities include working with nursing staff and physicians to ensure protocol compliance, obtaining research specimens for laboratory analysis, reviewing patient charts for collecting data for prospective and retrospective studies.
Subject screening and recruitment – determine subject eligibility and obtains informed consent when required. Lead coordinator on active projects (ensure training for colleagues)
Schedule and complete study appointments with subjects based on study protocol
Accurate and efficient data accrual and case report form completion
Accurately run Thromboelastographic tests and provide results to providers
Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):
General work schedule will be three 12-hour shifts from 7 pm – 7 am. Shifts are scheduled for weekend nights. Environmental exposures include working with lab reagents, human tissues (blood and saliva), and general patient contact.
