Department Overview

Under direct supervision, primarily provides general administrative support for a project, team, or work unit.  Similar to an Office Clerk or Specialist*.  May also include some basic data entry and report generation.  

Function/Duties of Position

  • Assisting patients with inquiries and pharmacists with technician level duties.
  • Processing cash, credit, and debit transactions accurately and safely.
  • Filling and labeling prescriptions, managing stock levels, ordering medications, and ensuring proper storage. Managing patient records, processing insurance claims, handling billing procedures, and maintaining records. Stocking shelves, organizing products, maintaining pharmacy cleanliness, and preparing medication orders.

Required Qualifications

  • High School, OR
  • Undergraduate Program
    (minimum 6 credit hours), OR
  • Graduate Program
    minimum 4.5 credit hours)
  • Computer Keyboard experience
  • Ability to establish priorities in workflow
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work under supervision of diverse Pharmacists
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal Pharmacy Technician training program
  • Inpatient and outpatient hospital pharmacy experience
  • Medical and scientific nomenclature
