The OHSU Cancer Registry collects detailed information about the diagnosis, treatment and survival of cancer patients at OHSU. The registry serves as a resource to OSU, the Knight Cancer Institute and other facilities within the OHSU Knight Cancer Network. With over 250 discretely coded data fields used to describe each instance of cancer, registry data can be put to use improving cancer care and public health in numerous ways. The registry also supports the OHSU Cancer Committee in all its efforts to maintain accreditation with the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, including data quality control, compliance with commission standards, staffing assistance for registry operations and data mining. As required by state law and the standards of the Commission on Cancer, the registry reports its data to the Oregon State Cancer Registry and the National Cancer Database for use in epidemiologic studies.
The Tumor Registrar is responsible for case finding, registering, abstracting, staging & performing patient follow-up functions on all patients seen at FACILITY NAME for the diagnosis and/or treatment of cancer. The Tumor Registrar is also responsible for other cancer program-related activities such as data requests, quality control & support to the Cancer Committee.
