Department Overview

The mission of Risk Management is to provide a comprehensive risk management program that contributes to health, safety and protection of patients, employees, faculty, students and visitors, while also protecting the University's physical and financial resources. OHSU uses a combination of self-insurance and commercial insurance to fund risk of loss. Risk manages over 30 lines of insurance as well as a captive insurance company. Claims are managed internally by experienced claims managers.

Function/Duties of Position

Database Administration and Technical Support

  • Coordination of services, projects and liaison with ITG and vendors related to all computer/phone programs, devices, and communication including Riskonnect/Clearsight, Terra Dotta, Worker and Student Injury Reporting System, and Claim History system.
  • Main point of contact with ITG and vendors for system upgrades.
  • Riskonnect – Primary administrator of rights and responsibilities to include creating new user accounts; changing rights of existing users; creating new fields and/or additions to existing drop down menus; managing various import elements; formalize written departmental policies associated with same; provide basic to intermediate training for new members of team; troubleshoot system issues; and engage vendor support as needed. Provide training and oversight of tasks to other Riskonnect administrators.
  • OnBase – Assist with administrative responsibilities to include training new users; monitoring integrity of documents; provisioning technical support; back up RM liaison to ITG for further development of OnBase system; troubleshooting system issues; and engage ITG support as needed.
  • Custom Systems – Systems administrator on custom Department systems (COI/claims history, Worker and Student Injury Reporting System, Off-Campus Authorization).  Maintain list of user access rights for all Risk systems.  Modify or terminate access upon supervisor request.   
  • Ensure accurate transfer of data from existing systems; ensure accurate ongoing data feeds from or to OHSU systems, insurance carriers and Central Finance Services.  Administrative responsibilities to include monitoring integrity of documents; providing technical support and engaging ITG support as needed.   
  • Provide systems and project support when needed for members of the Department.
  • Direct inquires as necessary, explain processes and procedures to both internal and external customers, provide information about services available.
  • Administer all shared email boxes.

Data Analysis

  • Subject matter expert related to data for all insurance lines managed by Department.
  • Responsible for data analysis; report creation for internal and external stakeholders related to area of expertise; develop exception reports; review current data to maintain accuracy and integrity of information; and assist with ad hoc reporting and/or report troubleshooting for various lines of coverage.  

Carrier and Vendor Reporting

  • Provide loss runs, bordereau reports and loss triangles for all lines of coverage including Professional Liability as requested by outside agencies i.e. actuarial, reinsurers, insurance carrier and brokers. 
  • Provide carrier notifications via Loss Advice Forms (LAFs) for all non-Professional Liability lines of coverage.  
  • Oversee receipt of and documentation of carrier acknowledgements of receipt of LAFS.
  • Direct inquiries from carrier and broker to appropriate Risk Management team member.

Special project and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Finance, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, Computer Science or related field of study; OR
  • 5 years of progressive work experience in an administrative office setting.    
  • Experience working in a mid-level administrative or legal office environment, providing operational, administrative, and project management support.  

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including individuals with a wide range of professional, technical, and cultural backgrounds.

  • Experience with project monitoring, coordination, and oversight, including tracking deliverables, timelines, and outcomes.

  • Proven experience with systems administration, database management, and maintenance of electronic records and information systems.

  • Experience supporting systems conversions, process improvements, and documentation development to enhance operational efficiency and data integrity.

  • Requires a team player with excellent interpersonal, customer service, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound professional judgment and collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be customer service oriented, able to communicate with or appropriately refer customers from a variety of contact points, and explain and contextualize data clearly.
  • Strong ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize workload, projects, and responsibilities.

  • Requires advanced computer proficiency, including expertise in Microsoft Excel (creating spreadsheets, manipulating data, and developing advanced charts and graphs), Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as database and internet applications used to create reports, presentations, and other business materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework in data governance.  
  • Familiarity with OHSU’s mission, values, and policies is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of risk management, safety, insurance, and legal principles and practices is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Riskonnect, ClearSight, Origami Risk, or similar enterprise risk management (ERM) and claims management platforms.
  • Experience with system administration functions, including application troubleshooting, system configuration, data migration and import processes, and integration of data from secondary sources.
  • Proficient in developing, maintaining, and distributing business intelligence reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Tableau and Power BI for diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience administering document tracking and records management systems, including manual indexing processes, custom software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting at both the server and end-user levels.
  • Skilled in data governance, quality assurance, and database administration, including field and workflow management, routine data validation, auditing, and maintenance of data integrity across complex information systems and reporting environments.

Additional Details

Position is fully remote but will be required to work a set schedule Monday - Friday. Regular office hours are 8:00am - 4:30pm PT.
